Amazon CloudFront now supports gRPC delivery

News

Amazon CloudFront now supports gRPC delivery, a modern open-source remote procedure call (RPC) framework that enables efficient bidirectional communication between clients and servers over HTTP/2 connections.

  • Uses Protocol Buffers, a binary message format that reduces payload size compared to JSON
  • Enables continuous client-server interactions with reduced communication latency
  • Supports concurrent message sending through a single connection
  • Available in CloudFront edge locations worldwide (excluding China regions)
  • Provides improved performance for applications like ride-sharing with real-time updates

CloudFront's gRPC support offers developers enhanced communication efficiency, global reach, and improved application responsiveness.
