Announcing customized delete protection for Amazon EBS Snapshots and EBS-backed AMIs

AWS has introduced an enhanced feature for Amazon EBS Snapshots and EBS-backed AMIs Recycle Bin that allows customized delete protection using tags.
- Customers can now exclude specific EBS Snapshots and AMIs from Recycle Bin based on tags
- Enables more granular protection for critical data while excluding non-critical resources
- Helps reduce storage costs by selectively applying delete protection
- Supports exclusion for temporary snapshots or backup automation that don't need additional protection
- Available in all AWS commercial and GovCloud (US) Regions
- Can be configured via EC2 Console, API/CLI, or SDK
The new feature provides more flexibility for managing snapshot and AMI delete protection, allowing customers to optimize their storage and backup strategies.
