Amazon EBS announces Time-based Copy for EBS Snapshots

Amazon EBS has announced the general availability of Time-based Copy for EBS Snapshots, a new feature designed to help customers meet business and compliance requirements.

  • Allows specifying snapshot copy duration between 15 minutes and 48 hours
  • Enables predictable snapshot copying across AWS Regions and accounts
  • Supports meeting Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs)
  • Provides monitoring via EventBridge and new CloudWatch metric
  • Available in all AWS commercial and GovCloud Regions
  • Accessible through AWS Console, CLI, and SDKs

This feature enhances disaster recovery and data migration capabilities by providing more control and visibility over EBS snapshot copying processes.
