AWS has expanded Compute Optimizer to support idle resource recommendations, enabling users to identify and potentially eliminate unused AWS resources.
- Covers recommendations for idle EC2 instances, Auto Scaling groups, EBS volumes, ECS Fargate services, and RDS instances
- Analyzes 14 days of utilization history to validate resource idleness
- Allows users to view total potential cost savings from stopping or deleting idle resources
- Provides recommendations across all AWS accounts in an organization through Cost Optimization Hub
- Available through AWS Management Console, CLI, and SDK
The feature aims to help organizations reduce cloud infrastructure costs by identifying and removing underutilized resources.
