Now Available – Second-Generation FPGA-Powered Amazon EC2 instances (F2)

AWS has launched second-generation FPGA-powered Amazon EC2 F2 instances, offering significant performance improvements for compute-intensive workloads:
- Equipped with up to 8 AMD FPGAs and AMD EPYC processors with 192 cores
- High Bandwidth Memory and up to 8 TiB of SSD storage
- Ideal for genomics, multimedia processing, big data, satellite communication, and networking
- Two instance sizes available: f2.12xlarge and f2.48xlarge
- Provides up to 3x more processor cores and 2x more memory compared to F1 instances
Initially available in US East (N. Virginia) and Europe (London) regions, F2 instances are Linux-only and offer various purchasing options, targeting high-performance computing and specialized workloads.
