Amazon EC2 F2 instances, featuring up to 8 FPGAs, are generally available

AWS has announced the general availability of Amazon EC2 F2 instances, the second-generation FPGA-powered compute instances designed for advanced hardware acceleration.

  • Features up to 8 FPGAs with 16GB high-bandwidth memory
  • Powered by 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors with 192 vCPUs
  • Provides 2 TiB system memory, 7.6 TiB NVMe SSD storage
  • Supports 100 Gbps networking bandwidth
  • Ideal for genomics, multimedia processing, network security, and video broadcasting

Currently available in US East (N. Virginia) and Europe (London) regions in f2.12xl and f2.48xl sizes, F2 instances represent a significant upgrade from the previous F1 generation.
