Introducing custom billing views: tailored cost and usage view for your stakeholders

Cloud Financial Management Blog

AWS has introduced custom billing views, a new feature in AWS Billing and Cost Management that allows organizations to share cost and usage data across multiple accounts more flexibly and securely.

  • Enables sharing of cost data across member accounts without giving access to the management account
  • Supports two primary scenarios: sharing application-specific cost views and creating dedicated FinOps accounts
  • Requires enabling AWS Cost Explorer and migrating to fine-grained access controls
  • Uses AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM) to share billing views securely
  • Allows creating custom billing views filtered by cost allocation tags or organization-wide data

The feature helps organizations provide financial transparency while maintaining strict access controls, allowing different stakeholders to access relevant cost information without compromising account security.
