AWS End User Messaging helps customers combat SMS pumping
News
AWS End User Messaging has introduced new features to help developers combat SMS pumping (Artificially Inflated Traffic or AIT), a problem that causes unexpected charges for businesses.
- SMS Protect allows developers to configure AIT detection rules for countries and specific messaging use cases
- Can identify and block messages with potential pumping risks
- Provides results through in-console dashboards, CloudWatch metrics, and SMS events
- Available in all AWS Regions where End User Messaging is offered
- Costs $0.01 per message in addition to standard SMS fees
- No charges for messages blocked by SMS protect
The new feature helps businesses protect themselves from automated systems and bots that trigger large volumes of SMS messages, potentially saving millions of dollars annually.
