Amazon Aurora Global Database has introduced support for up to 10 secondary Regions, expanding its capabilities for globally distributed applications.
- Previously limited to 5 secondary Regions, the new functionality allows for increased scalability
- Each secondary Region can support up to 16 read-only DB instances
- Enables "Follow the Sun" use cases with global database switchover capabilities
- Supports both Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL-compatible editions
- Provides low-latency data replication with typically under one second of delay
The expansion allows organizations to create more robust, globally distributed database architectures with improved performance, scalability, and disaster recovery options.
