AWS has announced the general availability of Amazon DocumentDB Serverless, a new on-demand, auto-scaling configuration for its MongoDB-compatible document database service.

- Offers up to 90% cost savings compared to peak capacity provisioning
- No upfront commitments or additional costs, pay only for used database capacity
- Supports read replicas, Performance Insights, and I/O-Optimized features
- Ideal for variable, multi-tenant, and mixed workload applications
- Supports native vector search for agentic AI applications
- Available with Amazon DocumentDB 5.0 for new and existing clusters
