Amazon DocumentDB announces Extended Support for version 3.6, providing customers additional time to upgrade their database clusters.
- Extended Support will last up to three years beyond the standard support end date of March 30, 2026
- Critical security updates for CVEs will continue during Extended Support period
- Customers can perform in-place major version upgrade from 3.6 to 5.0
- Upgrading to version 5.0 enables features like I/O-Optimized, Graviton2, and Serverless instances
- Extended Support will be available in all AWS Regions, including GovCloud and China Regions
The extension helps organizations manage complex database migrations and maintain critical workloads with minimal disruption.
