Amazon DocumentDB Serverless is now available

AWS News Blog

Amazon has announced the general availability of Amazon DocumentDB Serverless, a new database configuration that automatically scales compute and memory based on application demand.

  • Automatically scales Database Capacity Units (DCUs) up and down without disrupting availability
  • Supports MongoDB-compatible APIs with features like read replicas and Performance Insights
  • Offers up to 90% cost savings compared to provisioning for peak capacity
  • Ideal for variable workloads, multi-tenant environments, and mixed-use scenarios
  • Supports engine version 5.0.0 and higher, with a capacity range of 0.5–256 DCUs

Users can create serverless clusters in the AWS DocumentDB console, with pay-per-second DCU usage and easy migration from provisioned instances.
