AWS announced Extended Support for Amazon DocumentDB version 3.6, providing critical security and bug fixes for three years beyond its standard support end date.
- Version 3.6 standard support ends March 30, 2026
- Extended Support will run until March 30, 2029
- Customers are recommended to upgrade to version 5.0
- Version 5.0 offers improvements like increased storage, enhanced security, and serverless capabilities
Upgrade options include in-place major version upgrade, AWS Database Migration Service, and mongodump/mongorestore. AWS advises customers to plan upgrades early and test in staging environments to minimize disruption.
