Introducing Extended Support for Amazon ElastiCache version 4 and version 5 for Redis OSS

Amazon ElastiCache is introducing Extended Support for Redis OSS versions 4 and 5, providing critical security updates and continued support through January 31, 2029.

  • Standard support for Redis OSS versions 4 and 5 ends January 31, 2026
  • Extended Support is a paid offering that provides security updates and bug fixes
  • Clusters not upgraded will be automatically enrolled in Extended Support
  • Customers are strongly encouraged to upgrade to ElastiCache for Valkey or Redis OSS v6+

Key benefits of upgrading include improved security, performance enhancements, role-based access control, and better memory efficiency. Customers can upgrade using Modify APIs or Service Update APIs with minimal disruption to their applications.
