AWS Directory Service has launched Hybrid Edition for Managed Microsoft AD, a new capability that allows customers to extend their existing Active Directory domain into AWS.

  • Enables unified Active Directory deployment across on-premises, AWS Cloud, and multi-cloud environments
  • Automatically handles replication and maintenance between AD environments
  • Preserves existing access controls and group policies without reconfiguration
  • Integrates with AWS services like EC2, Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, and Amazon RDS
  • Reduces operational overhead by managing AD infrastructure maintenance
  • Supports secure credential sharing using AWS Secrets Manager

The new service simplifies AD-dependent workload migration to the cloud while maintaining existing infrastructure and security configurations.
