Extend your Active Directory domain to AWS with AWS Managed Microsoft AD (Hybrid Edition)

Microsoft Workloads on AWS Blog

AWS has announced the general availability of AWS Managed Microsoft AD (Hybrid Edition), a new service that allows organizations to extend their existing Active Directory domain to AWS while preserving their current identity and access infrastructure.

  • Enables seamless integration of on-premises Active Directory with AWS cloud services
  • Preserves existing AD domain namespace and security principals
  • Provides managed scalability and infrastructure management
  • Supports two architectural patterns: extending from on-premises or Amazon EC2 domain controllers
  • Allows directory sharing across multiple AWS accounts

The service simplifies migration of Active Directory-dependent workloads to AWS, eliminates domain controller management overhead, and enhances integration with AWS applications and services.
