OpenSearch Serverless now supports Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) for Data Plane APIs and Resource control policy

Amazon OpenSearch Serverless has enhanced its access control capabilities with two significant updates:

  • Added Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) for Data Plane APIs
  • Introduced Resource Control Policy (RCP) for organization-wide authorization
  • Enables easier management of data read and write operations using IAM identity policies
  • Allows centralized enforcement of preventative controls across organizational resources
  • Part of AWS's initiative to drive consistent IAM feature adoption

These improvements provide more granular and centralized access management for OpenSearch Serverless customers, simplifying security and compliance controls.
