AWS Site-to-Site VPN now supports IPv6 on the outside IPs

Networking & Content Delivery Blog

AWS has announced support for IPv6 on outside IPs for Site-to-Site VPN, enabling users to connect IPv6 networks more directly and efficiently.

  • Supports pure IPv6 addressing without IPv4>IPv6 translation
  • Helps migrate to IPv6 and address IP address exhaustion
  • Reduces connectivity costs by avoiding public IPv4 address fees
  • Meets regulatory requirements for IPv6-only networks
  • Currently supported only on AWS Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN core network edges

The feature allows organizations to simplify network connectivity, conserve IPv4 addresses, and more easily transition to IPv6 infrastructure.
