AWS has added IPv6 support for Amazon S3 Gateway and Interface VPC endpoints, addressing the growing need for more internet addresses.

  • IPv6 provides significantly more available addresses compared to IPv4
  • Customers can configure endpoints to use IPv6 or Dualstack
  • Amazon S3 automatically updates routing tables with IPv6 addresses
  • Supports both gateway and interface endpoints
  • Available in all AWS Commercial and GovCloud (US) Regions
  • No additional cost for implementation
  • Can be configured via AWS Management Console, CLI, SDK, or CloudFormation

This enhancement helps customers manage network addressing more efficiently and prepare for future internet infrastructure needs.
