Amazon Kinesis Data Streams now supports Fault Injection Service (FIS) actions for simulating API errors, enabling customers to test application resilience and error handling capabilities.

  • Allows controlled testing of Kinesis Data Streams API errors, including throttling and service unavailable exceptions
  • Supports creating simulated errors for GET and PUT operations (500, 503, and 400 error types)
  • Enables testing of retry mechanisms and CloudWatch alarms in a controlled environment
  • Provides automatic stop mechanisms to prevent unintended application disruption
  • Can be integrated into continuous integration pipelines

The feature helps customers validate monitoring systems and recovery processes before encountering real-world failures, ultimately improving application reliability.
