Amazon CloudFront announces cross-account support for VPC origins

Amazon CloudFront has announced cross-account support for Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) origins, expanding capabilities for secure and flexible content delivery.

  • Enables access to VPC origins in different AWS accounts from CloudFront distributions
  • Supports origins like Application Load Balancers, Network Load Balancers, and EC2 Instances in private subnets
  • Uses AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM) to grant cross-account VPC origin access
  • Supports origins within and outside AWS Organizations and organizational units
  • Available in AWS Commercial Regions with no additional cost

This feature allows customers to maintain multi-account architectures while benefiting from the security and performance of VPC origins in CloudFront.
