Enhancing network observability with new AWS Outposts racks LAG metrics
Compute Blog
This article announces the new LagStatus CloudWatch metric for AWS Outposts racks, enhancing network observability at Layer 2.
- LagStatus metric provides visibility into link aggregation group (LAG) connectivity status between Outposts and on-premises infrastructure
- Metric reports binary status (1=UP, 0=DOWN) with OutpostId and LagId dimensions for quick identification
- Complements existing VifConnectionStatus and VifBgpSessionState metrics for comprehensive troubleshooting
- Data published at 5-minute intervals via CloudWatch console in Outposts namespace
- CloudWatch Composite Alarms can combine all three metrics to alert on connectivity issues
- Available in all commercial AWS Regions and GovCloud at no additional cost for both Outposts generations
The LagStatus metric enables AWS Outposts customers to monitor hybrid infrastructure connectivity and quickly diagnose network issues using combined Layer 2 and Layer 3 metrics.
