AWS launches the Amazon RDS Switchover Read Replica execution block in ARC Region switch, automating recovery orchestration for Amazon RDS databases running Oracle Data Guard in multi-Region workloads.
- Automates role transitions between primary and read replica databases with zero data loss
- Supports both planned failovers and unplanned failovers requiring rapid recovery
- Enables cross-account orchestration for centralized recovery management across organizations
- Available in all commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions
- Eliminates manual steps previously required for Regional failover recovery
This enhancement simplifies disaster recovery for Oracle Data Guard deployments by automating the failover process within ARC Region switch.
