AWS Direct Connect introduces inbound prefix controls and higher prefix scale
News
AWS Direct Connect announced inbound prefix controls, enabling allocation and management of inbound route-prefix allocations for private and transit virtual interfaces based on workload needs.
- Increase prefix capacity from 100 to 1,000 prefixes per VIF for IPv4 and IPv6
- Eliminates need for route summarization or multiple VIFs for larger networks
- Prefix capacity pools scale with dedicated connection speed and LAG member count
- Right-size prefix allocations per workload on the same connection
- Available at no additional cost in all commercial AWS Regions and GovCloud
- Configure via AWS Direct Connect console, CLI, or API
Inbound prefix controls provide greater flexibility for managing complex network architectures without architectural workarounds.
