AWS Gateway Load Balancer now supports TCP Reset for faster failure recovery

AWS Gateway Load Balancer now supports sending TCP Reset (RST) packets when targets become unhealthy, are deregistered, or when idle timeouts expire, enabling faster failure recovery.

  • Reduces traffic interruptions from minutes to seconds by quickly detecting failed connections
  • Sends TCP Reset packets to indicate non-viable connections instead of fail-open behavior
  • Three independent triggers: unhealthy targets, target deregistration, and TCP idle timeout expiry
  • Disabled by default for backward compatibility; enable per target group via Console, CLI, or API
  • Available in all AWS Regions where GWLB is available at no additional cost

This feature significantly improves TCP connection recovery times for Gateway Load Balancer users.
