Introducing new Event Source Mapping (ESM) metrics for AWS Lambda
Compute Blog
AWS has introduced new opt-in CloudWatch metrics for AWS Lambda Event Source Mappings (ESM) that provide enhanced visibility into event processing for SQS, Kinesis, and DynamoDB event sources.
- New metrics include PolledEventCount, InvokedEventCount, FilteredOutEventCount, and others
- Helps customers monitor and diagnose event processing issues
- Metrics can track events that are polled, invoked, filtered, deleted, dropped, or sent to on-failure destinations
- Can be enabled through AWS CLI, Lambda Console, and other AWS management tools
- Available in all commercial AWS regions at no additional cost (standard CloudWatch pricing applies)
These new metrics provide deeper insights into Lambda event source mapping performance, enabling better troubleshooting and monitoring of serverless applications.
