AWS has updated the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool (CCFT) with new features to provide more comprehensive emissions tracking:
- Added location-based method (LBM) emissions calculations alongside existing market-based method (MBM)
- Included estimated emissions from CloudFront in service breakdown
- LBM reflects average emissions intensity of local electricity grids
- Helps users understand carbon intensity across different data center regions
- Enables more informed decision-making for cloud sustainability
The update provides users with more detailed insights into their cloud infrastructure's carbon emissions, supporting more effective sustainability planning.
