Customer Carbon Footprint Tool Expands: Additional emissions categories including Scope 3 are now available

AWS has expanded the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool (CCFT) with significant updates to emissions tracking and reporting, now including comprehensive Scope 3 emissions data.

  • Added new emissions categories including Scope 3 emissions
  • Expanded Scope 1 emissions to include refrigerants and natural gas
  • Incorporated three key Scope 3 emission categories:
    • Fuel and energy-related activities
    • IT hardware emissions
    • Buildings and equipment emissions
  • Used comprehensive calculation methods including life cycle assessments
  • Recalculated historical data back to January 2022

The tool now provides customers with a more complete view of their carbon emissions, helping them track sustainability goals and understand their environmental impact across AWS services.
